Raman and FTIR
In-between cellular and cell wall system assemblies, we study the structure and chemical composition using a Raman micro-spectroscope. The spatial resolution of Raman spectroscopy is sufficient for the localization of polysaccharide concentration in cell walls. With this technique we obtain a map of Raman spectra which, after identification of characteristic bands, are used for the visualization of the biomolecules’ distribution. Moreover, we are developing imaging techniques based on chemometric methods to deal with hyperspectral data from Raman microscopy.
