Abstract : | Kernels of five varieties of spring wheat (Banti, Łagwa, Parabola, Hewilla and Żura) were exposed to pre-sowing alternating magnetic field. In the performed experiment two doses of magnetic field were applied: D1 = 21,50 kJ m-3 s (30 mT, 30 s) and D2 = 7,16k J-3 s (30 mT, 10 s). The germination kinetics was measured every hour by means of an electronic seed germinator which was developed and built in the Department of Physics at the University of Life Sciences in Lublin. The germination process was modelled using the logistic curve and the parameters of that curve were calculated. The experiment data established that wheat varieties react individually to magnetic field. A positive influence of the magnetic field was noted in Banti and Łagwa wheat varieties. For Hewilla, Parabola and Żura varieties a positive influence was observed only for dose D1. Among all tested varieties, the highest positive influence of magnetic field was noted in Banti. On the other hand, the lowest positive influence of magnetic field was noted in Hewilla and Parabola. The germination kinetics results confirm the logistic curves parameters calculated for each of the wheat varieties tested. |
