Abstract : | The two-factor field experiment was conducted between 2008 and 2010, in the conditions of the Experimental Station of the University of Rzeszów. The influence of forecrops - faba bean and winter wheat – and recommended and reduced doses of herbicides Sekator 6,25 WG and Arelon Dyspersyjny 500 SC on the quality of Batuta winter wheat variety was examined. The application of full doses of herbicides resulted in an increase in protein and gluten content in grains and in the weight of 1000 grains of the wheat. A similar protein content and weight of 1000 grains as in the case of the application of full-dose were obtained after the application of 80 EC Atpolan adjuvant together with a reduced dose The type of forecrop did not affect the protein content, falling number, and physical properties of the grain, while the field where faba bean was previously cultivated significantly increased the gluten content and sedimentation index. The protein content was positively correlated with the gluten content and index of sedimentation. Positive correlations were demonstrated between density and grain uniformity, and negative between the content of protein and gluten and grain uniformity. |
